When an item in high demand sells out unexpectedly, it may be placed on backorder. Should CRAZY SEXY CURL be applied before or after the BEE GIRL Honey Curl Custard? 

Either way works! The BEE GIRL Honey Curl Custard first as a base is how we do it over here, but follow your heart. 

 

Can I put both foams in my hair at the same time? 

You can…but there’s really no reason to. Layering the two foams isn’t going to increase the hold, so we recommend just sticking with one! 

 

The product is flaking in my hair, what am I doing wrong? 

If you’re experiencing flaking there might be a few things going on. 

1. Your hair is not squeaky clean. We recommend starting with a clean base before applying our styling products.
2. You’re likely not following the directions. When used as directed our products do not flake, so make sure you’re using the product alone without a leave-in or oil, you have the correct water-to-product ratio, and that you’re applying to wet hair.

 

What products can be used on locs? 

BIG POPPA Defining Gel, MOUSE DEF Texture Foam, and CRAZY SEXY CURL Honey Setting Foam are all great for locs! 

For shampoo, we recommend Breakdown Clarifying Shampoo or Sucka Free Moisturizing Shampoo. For conditioner, we recommend Fresh Rinse Moisturizing Conditioner. To refresh your locs we recommend Fresh to Def Leave-In Curl Refresher.  

 

When will professionals get pro sizes for salons? 

Salon Professionals are a priority for us over here at the Doux and we've heard the feedback. You can currently find 10 of our products at Cosmoprof for 25% off the regular retail price. You can also find salon-size foams at a Cosmoprof near you! 

 

When pairing MOUSSE DEFF Texture Foam with C.R.E.A.M. Twist & Curl Cream, which is applied first? 

You can use all of our styling products alone, but if you want to use these two products together, we recommend using C.R.E.A.M. first as a base. 

 

Is there a recommended routine for BIG POPPA Defining Gel? 

We recommend applying all of our styling products on clean hair so start off with a quick wash and condition featuring SUCKA FREE Moisturizing Shampoo and FRESH RINSE Moisturizing Conditioner. Apply BIG POPPAfrom roots to ends, then top off with a little bit of MOUSSE DEF Texture Foam for added humidity resistance. 

 

What products can be used with the TID-BIT coil comb? 

Any product, it's a styling tool! Pick your poison. The TID-BIT coil comb is perfect for the tiny little “bits” of hair that are too short to snatch, those finger coils that you can’t seem to get tight at the roots, and even the loc-retwist you’ve been dying to master at home. 

 

The nozzle isn’t working on my foam, what do I do? 

If the nozzle is temporarily not working on your foam, that just means that there is product stuck in the pump. Run warm water over the nozzle and you should be good to go! 

 

Do the Bee Girl Collection stylers have different uses? 

Yes! While they all condition, detangle, and define, some are really good at specific things. For example, CRAZY SEXY CURL Honey Setting Foam is great for wash-n-go’s, while BEE GIRL Honey Curl Custard is known for defining even the tightest curl! 

 

What is the best combo product for CRAZY SEXY CURL Honey Setting Foam? 

The best combo product for CRAZY SEXY CURL is…CRAZY SEXY CURL!   

However, if you really want to layer, we recommend using 808 or Bee Girl as a base gel and adding a little bit of Crazy Sexy Curl on top.  

But, for the best results make sure your hair is cleansed and conditioned with the LADIES FIRST Honey Shampoo and the SWEETEST THING Honey Moisture Mask.  

A clean base is key to setting up your styling products for success! 

 

What product should I use for a wash & go? 

For a wash & go we recommend using MOUSSE DEF Texture Foam, CRAZY SEXY CURL Honey Setting Foam, BEE GIRL Curl Custard, or BIG POPPA Defining Gel to get the look! 

 

I’m using the stylers and my hair is still dry, why? 

Moisture is a behavior, not just one step of your routine. To help retain moisture, make sure you cleanse and condition your hair at least once a week with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Next, limit your styling product combos to no more than 2 at a time. Avoid heavy oils and butters when styling your hair and make sure to keep your hair regularly trimmed (once a quarter). If you do this, within a month your hair’s moisture will be improved! 

Pro tip: Add dime size of WE WANT EASY Texture Tamer  or DEAR MAMA Moisture Milkbefore styling products for some added moisture 

Pro tip: Use FRESH TO DEF Leave-In Curl refresherto extend the life of your style and increase moisture retention. 

 

What product do you recommend for a slick and strong hold? 

BEE GIRL Curl Custard offers the strongest hold for your hair. For the edges specifically, we recommend PUSH IT! Honey Braid & Edge Gel or SWAGOO Edge Control Gel. 

 

Which product is best for low-porosity hair? 

Our products are formulated with low and high-porosity hair in mind. 

 

Does WE WANT EASY Texture Tamer protect from heat when using a flat iron and blow dryer? 

Yes, it does! WE WANT EASY can also be used as a primer. 

 

What product will give the most curl definition on short hair? 

We recommend using MOUSSE DEF Texture Foam for volume, and CRAZY SEXY CURL Honey Setting Foam for a more clumped curl look. 

 

Will the MIST DEMEANOR Honey Shine Mist soften my curls when paired with a styler? 

MIST DEMEANOR adds shine to your hair. Because it contains oil, it will soften the look of any of our stylers. 

Pro Tip: Use MIST DEMEANOR as your final step on DRY hair. 

 

What’s the difference between the Classics Collection, the Wash-n-Go Collection, and the BEE GIRL collection? 

Our Classics collection is our salon collection and is suitable for all hair types.  

Our BEE GIRL collection was formulated with a stronger hold and enhanced moisture in mind. 

Our Wash-n-Go Collection was formulated to be our fastest and simplest regimen. 

You can mix and match products in all of the collections! This is just what the intention was when developing each individual line. 

 

Can I use your products if I have sensitive skin? 

Yes! But make sure to do a patch test for 24 hr before applying to hair and scalp. Also, talk to a licensed professional to see what’s best for you and your hair.

BEE GIRL is our strongest holding gel and is intended to set your curls. Once dried you can massage out the cast if you want a softer feel.

Mousse Def is our all-in-one #1 best-selling foam for a reason! It really can do it all!  

Apply a quarter-sized amount to your edges prior to blowing dry for added shine, control, and resistance to humidity.  

 

Do you blow dry your hair before or after using JUST GLAZE? 

We recommend Blow Drying after applying JUST GLAZE SILKENING FLUID. Use about a pump - pump and a half depending on how much hair you have. then blow dry. JUST GLAZE should be applied to damp hair.

Rinse hair with warm water until fully saturated. Apply a generous amount of PRESS REWIND, working through from scalp to ends. Leave in for 2-3 minutes. Rinse and repeat. Follow with FAST FORWARD and apply a generous amount from scalp to ends. Allow it to sit for 3-5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. *For best results, apply products to hair free of heavy waxes or oil-based stylers. 

STEP 3: ANTI-HUMIDITY PRE-TREATMENT 

After shampooing and conditioning, part your hair into 4-6 sections. Spray 1-2 pumps of SILENT TREATMENT per section to hair, distributing evenly with a detangling brush.

STEP 4: PREP AND SOFTEN

Utilize a hooded dryer to dry your hair. The drying time will vary depending on your styling preferences and the density of your hair.

Hold the DOUX DROPS bottle 12 inches from your hair and mist 3-4 times all over for a lightweight shine

Do you have Product Recommendations for Fine hair? 

All of our products are formulated with all hair types in mind! When it comes to fine hair, you just have to use less product.   

For stylers, we recommend that you start with Mousse Def Texture Foam and 808 Base Gel. 

 

What Products can I use on my Beard? 

Get Honey Hair and Scalp Serum and Mist Demeanor Honey Shine Mist are both great for beards.  

Believe it or not, our #1 Best Seller Mousse Def Texture Foam is our co-founder Brian Smith’s go-to for his beard!   

 

Are your products Color safe? 

Our products are Sulfate-free which means that they are color-safe. However, Color-safe doesn’t mean bulletproof.   

Depending on the process that you use to dye your hair, you might be more likely to bleed. For example, box vs. rinse vs. semi-permanent dye. Even damaged hair can be more likely to bleed.  

So, although our products are color-safe, keep all of this in mind the next time you wash your color-treated hair. 

 

What is the Difference between a Glaze and a Gel? 

The biggest difference is the formulation and consistency. Pop Lock 5-Day Curl Forming Glaze is lighter than a gel but offers a stronger hold. 

 

What Products can I use to lay my waves? 

We recommend Crazy Sexy Curl, Bonita Afro Balm, or C.R.E.A.M.to lay your waves.

Can I use Silent Treatment before My Wash and Go’s? 

Silent Treatment is a heat-activated humidity shield. Our curly stylers have frizz-fighting and humidity resistance already built into them.   

For this reason, you don’t need to add Silent Treatment when using our stylers to achieve a wash & go.  

 

Can the Press Play Thermal Styling System be used with the Bee Girl Collection or the Classics Collection? 

Yes! When doing a rod set or roller set using the Press Play Thermal styling system, we recommend using Gangster Wrap for a soft hold, Mousse Deffor a medium hold, and Crazy Sexy Curl for a strong hold! 

 

Will Your Products Work for my Hair? 

Our products are formulated for all hair types and textures in mind! It doesn't matter if you have high porosity hair, gray hair, 4C hair, or half your head shaved, our products are made for you!

Our medium-hold base gel serves as a base layer, locking in long-lasting frizz protection, definition, and bounce.  

808 Base Gel has a softer hold than our defining gel and was formulated to pair perfectly with our best-seller MOUSSE DEF Texture Foam®. 

Apply to freshly washed, clean, wet, product-free hair in small sections from roots to ends. Use alone or top it off with a small amount of MUSSE DEF Texture Foam for added humidity resistance. Air dry or diffuse, avoid touching it until 100% dry. We mean it. Don’t touch. Once dry, fluff & style away.
